Strain Spotlight: GMO

A close up view of GMO marijuana strain named for garlic mushroom onion.

In our last spotlight, we focused on the strain Blue Dream. Experts estimate that there are upwards of 700 different strains out there, so let’s focus on a strain with a contrasting flavor profile and lineup of effects, GMO.

Here’s what you need to know about GMO.

What is GMO?

GMO stands for Garlic Mushroom Onion, but it is usually referred to as “GMO”, “GMO Cookies” or “Garlic Cookies.” Created by crossing Chemdawg X GSC (Girl Scout Cookies), its earthy, pungent flavor is no surprise.

According to Leafly, this potent indica-dominant strain can be identified by its olive green buds covered with orange hairs and white trichomes.

What does GMO do?

GMO has a very heavy, pungent aroma that lingers, just like its long-lasting effects. Known to produce a “euphoric high” felt in the mind and body, this strain is great for treating pain, nausea, anxiety, or depression.

It makes consumers feel relaxed, happy, and uplifted. In large doses, this strain can act as a sedative and give you the feeling of couch lock.
